Gym work paying off for Evans

Centre-back Jonny Evans has revealed how he has been hitting the gym to ensure he stays the course for Manchester United this season.
The central defender is firm in his belief that he is currently playing the best football of his career at Old Trafford, having stepped up to the plate following the season-ending knee injury sustained by Nemanja Vidic back in December.

I have had a long run of games and I feel a lot better for it.

The 24-year-old has previously been a target for the boo-boys, who considered him a weak link in their rearguard, but he has managed to win them over with a series of impressive displays.
Evans, who was even touted for the exit door last summer, is again expected to be called on by boss Sir Alex Ferguson when his team host Ajax in the Europa League on Thursday evening, with United holding a seemingly-comfortable 2-0 advantage from the first leg in Amsterdam.
Ferguson will make a number of changes to his line-up with Sunday's trip to Norwich City in mind. Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea could be rested in favour of young keeper Ben Amos.
United are 1.40 to win on home turf on Thursday evening and 1213.00 to go on and win the Europa League this season, while the Red Devils are 7.50 to retain their Premier League crown.
Meanwhile, Evans insists his own fitness regime can be attributed to his improved form. "I have had a long run of games and I feel a lot better for it," the Northern Ireland international told the Manchester Evening News.
"I have also done a lot of gym work trying to get stronger and quicker. I feel physically fit.
"At the end of matches in the past I have been sat in the training room for about half an hour trying to get my legs back together because they would be shaking.
"But I have been doing extra work. Getting into training early and I am feeling the benefit."
