Mulvey wants reaction

Ahead of their clash with league leaders Central Coast Mariners, Gold Coast United's interim coach Mike Mulvey has said his players must reinstate some 'pride in the shirt' after a week full of drama.
Last week, the Glitter Strip club saw more than their share of controversies. First, their owner took the decision of handing the club captaincy to 17-year-old midfielder Mitch Cooper, which was followed by the sacking of their manager Miron Bleiberg.
And that wasn't all, as Palmer then had an incredible rant against the A-League, its administrators and even the game of football. This led to an issuance of warning by the FFA chief, who said that action will be taken against Palmer and GCU.
The club's extremely lengthy list of injured players makes matters even more complicated for Mulvey, who has challenged his players to shut out all the negativity by delivering a positive result on the field against the Mariners.
"We need to put pride back into the shirt so that the fans can have faith in the quality of football we're playing, and our performance on the park, and the belief in the future of the club," Mulvey said on Monday.
"Everyone's talking about youth, and it's true, but if you're good enough, you're old enough. Some of these players have now got to stand up. I didn't go to a private school or anything but I know there's a saying - carpe diem, seize the day."
Gold Coast United are 4/1 to defeat Central Coast Mariners, who themselves are 4/6 to get the win. A draw between the two sides can be backed at 11/4.
