Arnold delighted with 'first class' footy

Central Coast Mariners ended their two-match losing run by earning a dominant 2-0 win over Wellington Phoenix and the league leaders' performance made their coach Graham Arnold extremely happy.
The Mariners had dropped both of their previous two league matches to Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory. The signs of a slump at such a crucial stage of the season were beginning to turn into a worry for Arnold, but his men got back to winning ways on Saturday by totally outplaying their Kiwi opponents at Gosford.

That's the way we want to play, I couldn't have been happier with the effort.

In the post-match interview, Arnold said: "Our football was first-class. We had that many chances in the first half, but it's more about the performance. I was happy last week and we lost; it's how you learn from a loss that counts. That's the way we want to play, I couldn't have been happier with the effort."
He reserved special praise for youngster Tomas Rogic, who scored the opening goal, and also mentioned new signing John Sutton, who performed admirably even though he was recruited just a week ago by the club.
About his own performance, Rogic added: "Tonight was a great performance. To come in at half-time not three or four goals up was surprising but we came out in the second half and did what we had to."
Meanwhile, Adelaide United are 7/5 to defeat Sydney FC, who themselves are 15/8 to get the win on Sunday. A draw between the two sides can be backed at 15/2.
